The tour actually starts off June 4-5 in Wantagh, N.Y., where the band will play shows at the Nikon Theatre at Jones Beach. Dates currently end June 20-21 at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wis.  The news leaked out initially on the livenation.com website and then it was pulled back and the group announced the dates the next day officially.

There is also a documentary in the works which is a fan-based project about Phish Fan’s that grew up with the band in the 70’s and 80’s.  It will focus on the band’s touring from 1984-2004 and how it  influenced the life of those fans.   Sounds really interesting.  You can get early tickets for their tour at Phish.com

Over the holidays I started to think about some of the memorable live shows I have been to over the last decade and there were certainly some really great ones.  I saw everyone from Aerosmith, to Willie Nelson, the Rolling Stones, U2, Rod Stewart, Sister Hazel, Matchbox 20, to Garth Brooks.  Even though I saw those groups and many more, the most memorable show for me was seeing The Band at the Florida Theatre.

I believe The Band is one of the most under-rated groups of all time.  To hear Levon Helm belt out the “Weight” with his amazing voice and style is unforgettable.  He must of smoked a pack and a half during the performance and the late great Rick Danko was truly memorable.  They don’t make groups like that anymore and its a shame because their music is some of the most haunting and soulful I have ever heard.

I don’t know if you have seen Metal Sanaz before, but she is certainly someone on there way to big things.
