Live music Blog- The Nickelback tour is going to kick some major ass this spring. I love them and Seether who is on the undercard is a great band that is just exploding. That is funny that I said undercard as it sounds like a boxing or wrestling match. I am going to get a chance to catch them in Jacksonville when they come through here on April 22nd. Our friend Judd is the tour manager for Nickelback, so I will try and see if he can hook a brother up. You can get tickets at www.livenation.com and it will sell out quickly if it hasn’t already. Nickelback is right at the top of the list for the biggest band in the world.
They will kick off their tour in Nashville which is one of my favorite cities. I was up there meeting with some contacts on music row about various promotional and marketing opportunities and I got the chance to go to a cool venue called Rocketown. Rocketown is located on 6th Street which is downtown Nashville and the club caters heavily to a teen crowd although there were some older folks. The venue was created in fact to be a positive place for teens. It is fun, has cool music, and has a nice coffee bar. Here is a show by Emerson Drive fan club party that was broadcast from Rocketown:
On top of the Nickelback Tour, I am really excited about the Pick Up the Phone Tour (PUTP) this spring. It will be travelling to various universities around the country and has a really nice line-up with Anberlin, Alkaline Trio, and newcomers Single File. Not only will the bands perform, but the whole theme of the Tour is based around the Hopeline/1-800-suicide. There will be incredible on the ground education and support about suicide prevention and awareness on each university campus. The tour has partnered with PostSecret.com, Synclive.com, and the number one non-profit on Myspace To write love on her Arms (twloha). Twloha has over 300,00 friends on Myspace.com and 600,000 on Facebook.com
The whole tour will be webcast live to over 127 countries, but you must make at least one show in person. It is a great cause and very important because suicide is one of the leading cause of death in high school as well as on college campuses. The bands are really solid too.
Just some random thoughts that are disconnected and don’t necessarily have anything to do with the other ones.
