Category: Live Music Venue- If you are ever happen to be in Jacksonville Beach, Fl a venue to see a live show is Freebird Live. Freebird is owned by Judy Vanzant, who is the widow of Ronnie Vanzant, who was the lead singer and main songwriter for legendary group Lynyrd Skynyrd. Skynard was elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and the venue is a tribute to them and their hit “Freebird”.
The venue features artists from different genres and is relatively small with a downstair and an upstairs for viewing down on the stage. I Have seen legendary guitar man and Dave Matthews collaborater Tim Reynolds, American Idol runner-up Bo Bice, Billy Bob Thornton, Sister Hazel, and has Hoobastank, and Red Jumpsuit apparatus coming in this weekend. I tend to like these intimate venue where you can right in front of the stage as well as watching the show from the bar across the way. On top of that it has a great bar upstairs that allows you to fuel up and watch the show over the railing down below.
