Category: Live Music Blog |

Live Music venue- Skipper’s Smokehouse is “the club that washed ashore” and a must see if you are anywhere near Tampa, Florida. This southern venue will transform anyone into a down south, alligator eatin’, Blue’s lovin, dancin’ machine! The Blue’s Foundation voted Skipper’s as the Best Blues Club in America in 2001 and with great reason. Just about every genre of music is represented at Skipper’s such as blues, cajun, zydeco, bluegrass, funk, rock, jazz, reggae, ska, and even comedy. Artists from around the world grace Skipper’s stage and jam out face to face with their fans. The atmosphere here is incredible and features graffiti style art on anything that can be painted…sometimes including people and is surrounded by huge live oaks offering a canopy of shade all year. Skipper’s can hold 800 people and anywhere you stand you have a great view of the music. Bands often like to pull fans on stage or run around the club with guitars in hand, so don’t be shy when going there! Skipper’s Smokehouse is even a licensed talent agency, so if you are an up and coming artist you may be able to book a gig and could soon be playing on the infamous “Skipperdome” stage in no time. Not only does Skipper’s offer world class music six days a week, it also boasts a southern style menu featuring fresh seafood, nightly specials, and a full bar. Over the years, Skippers has earned many awards such as Best Outdoor Restaurant, Best Grouper Sandwich, Best Key Lime Pie, Best Alligator, Hottest Wings, and Best Place to Meet People This is the only place where you could be chowing down on fresh oysters and jammin’ to a Grammy-winning blues artist at the same time. Skipper’s is open Tuesday through Sunday, so head on down and jam-out!
